Tiffany blue nail polish: For Audrey by China Glaze

We all know what that signature Tiffany and Co colour looks like. A gorgeous spring shade, a more amped up duck-egg/seafoam blue colour.

For Audrey is the best Tiffany blue colour I have come across and it is from China Glaze's core nail polish line.

I have been a fan of China Glaze polishes for around six years, they are affordable, have a great core line and the company brings out some brilliant seasonal collections. The polishes themselves are mostly good to go in two coats and last for a goof few days before any hint of tip wear or chipping.

Have you tried any China Glaze polishes?

The Sweet Shop Collection - Scented nail polish - new from Models Own

Models Own is hands down one of my best loved high street makeup brands. Their latest nail polish collection is just another reason why.

The purse-friendly brand has released a new collection of nail polishes inspired by the sweets we loved during our childhoods.

The Sweet Shop collection is a scented nail polish collection which consists of Pear Drops, Fizzy Cola Bottles, Rhubarb and Custard, Liquorice Allsorts and Gumballs.

Pear Drops is a bright coral shade, Fizzy Cola Bottles is a neutral beige-brown, Rhubarb and Custard is a dark red shade, Liquorice Allsorts is a simple opaque black and Gumballs is a hot pink shade.

Once dry each polish smells like their names.

Each polish will cost £5 and the collection launches from the Models Own website on Friday, July 25.

Bottleshops in the UK will stock the new collection on Saturday, July 26 and Superdrug will sell them in stores across the country on July 30.

What do you think of this latest collection?

I love the look of the Gumballs polish!

Speckled Eggs - New from Models Own

Models Own have released another nail polish collection. They have brought out several polish collections recently which is brilliant and what's more the price is still purse friendly. What more could you ask for.

Their latest offering is the Speckled Eggs collection which features five pastel shades. Each polish contains black flecks similar to a speckled egg. (Clever huh?) Dove is a pink shade, Duck is a cornflower blue shade, Goose is a light yellow, Magpie is a mint green and Swan is a lilac shade.

Each polish will cost £5 and will launch in all Models Own Bottleshops from March 8. They will ready to buy on the website from March 12 as well as in Superdrug shops. Boots will stock the Speckled Eggs collection from March 19.

What do you think of their latest range?

HyperGel polishes - a new varnish by Models Own

Models Own have done it again and are bringing out a new range of gorgeous polishes.

They are due to launch their latest HyperGel polishes in February and are hoping to hold a pre-launch sale.

There will be ten new colours in the collection and all contain lotus flower oil (I am not sure what this adds to the polish but I haven’t come across it with other brands before)

The polishes will dry to a super glossy gel finish – I imagine these to be a similar finish to a Shellac manicure.

Models Own will only host their pre-launch sale if they reach 250,000 likes on Facebook.

Each polish will cost £5 when they hit the shops – Hypergel will launch in UK Bottleshops on Saturday, February 8 and online the following day.

Boots stores across the country will stock the polishes from Wednesday, February 19 while Superdrug will stock then from Wednesday, March 12.

Which ones have you got your eyes on?

Famous Golden Plum - Vampy Polish in Summer?

I love my neons, glitters and holographic polishes at any time of the year. Lots of people use summer as an excuse to bust out the brighter polishes in their collections and leave the deeper hues for autumn/winter.

I fancied a change. I have never been a slave to trends, I wear what I want, when I want.

This is Golden Plum, Famous by Sue Moxley:

This polish is a gorgeous vampy plum with golden coppery tones lacing through it. This is two coats with Seche Vite top coat.

I bought this polish a while ago when everything in the Famous by Sue Moxley line in Superdrug was half price. I think I picked it up for £2.50.

I haven't seen the Famous line in my local Superdrug branch since, I am not sure if it has been discontinued? Can anyone help shed some light?

New Release - Barry M Confetti

I haven't blogged in a while, I only got back from my honeymoon last night. I will be doing a wedding and honeymoon post shortly once I have gone through all the pictures.

I saw that Barry M are releasing a new nail polish line in June called Confetti.

From left to right we have Bubblegum, Sour Apple, Dolly Mixture, Marshmallow and Liquorice.

Each of these is a bar glitter polish. Bubblegum is a blue base with blue glitter, Sour Apple green based and green glitter, Dolly Mixture is a multicoloured glitter, Marshmallow is a pink base with pink glitter and Liquorice is black base with white glitter.

I believe each of these will cost £3.99. I am a fan of Barry M polishes and Dazzle Pots and the company, who does not test on animals, are always affordable. I love the look of the multicoloured glitter.

What do you think? Will you be picking any of these up?

18K Midtown Magic

I bought Midtown Magic from Sallys a while ago but never got round to using it. It is by one of my favorite nail polish brands, China Glaze and at a glance it just looks like a black polish in the bottle.

However, in the right light it shows its true colours - a very dark plum base with a hint of chocolate-brown. It also has very fine golden shimmer running through it.

This polish was in the sale and I bought it a few months back but it's from Metro collection for autumn 2011.

I painted two coats of Midtown Magic then used one coat of OPI's The Man With The Golden Gun - 18k gold flakie top coat.

I have mentioned before that I am not a fan of the OPI 18k topcoat (which I bought from Sally's in the sale) The clear base is quite thick and the gold flecks are so sparse. It takes a lot of effort to get the flecks in a noticeable place. I am glad I didn't pay full price, I would have been very disappointed.

Fruit Pastel Collection - Scented Nail Polish by Models Owen

One of my favourite makeup brands, Models Own, have been on fire releasing new nail polish collections recently.

Image - screen grab from Models Own

Their latest offering is called the Fruit Pastel Collection and consists of five (you guessed it) pastel shades which are scented.

In my experience of scented nail polish, their smell only emits once the polish is dry.

What makes the Models Own scented polishes different is the company has included a scratch and sniff sticker on the lid.

The polishes in the collection, which will be released in Boots stores across the UK from March 22, will be Strawberry Tart, Apple Pie, Banana Split, Blueberry Muffin and Grape Juice.

I believe they will cost £5 like all their polishes (apart from the pro line)

If you live near Westfield London, you can grab these from Models Own Bottleshop from March 9. They will also be available on www.modelsownit.com from March 20.

Matte Magnetic

I bought a load of the magnetic polishes from 17 when they were released last year. I hardly wear the though because I find they chip really easily and I got tip wear quickly with them too. However, for a night out they are great.

I used the dark green magnetic polish and topped with Rimmel's Matte top coat:

The magnetic polishes dry fast and I find the 17 products easy to work with, I think this might be because of the cap. The cap comes away from the lid of the polish bottle which I find makes the whole process less fiddly. The cap has a nifty lip which you rest near the cuticle. This means there is less chance of the magnet touching the wet polish.

Have you tried magnetic polishes? What are your thoughts?

Dotting Tool Manicure

I hope everyone had a good Christmas - what did you get up to? I haven't posted for about a month, I need to get back into a routine. Has this ever happened to you? I started a new job a few months back and working hours are much longer than before and I attend council meetings a couple of times a month which means I don't get home until late.

New Year resolution - get back into the swing of blogging because I enjoy it, it's my hobby.

A quick manicure I have been wearing over the last couple of days:

Two coats of Potion by 17 and using a medium and small sized dotting tools with Color Club neon polishes to dot diagonally across the nail. Simple, but bright and fun.

17 Does A Holo

I was on Twitter when I saw the UK makeup brand 17 have brought out a silver holographic nail polish...

The Boots exclusive brand is selling this for £3.99 - I haven't been able to venture into town yet to see if I can find it.

I wonder if we will start seeing more holographic polishes making an appearance...

Models Own - Mirrorball Collection

I spotted Models Own are releasing another new line of nail polishes soon. I have to say, they have been on a role with new lines recently. This latest offering is called the Mirrorball Collection. Take a look:

These five new polishes will cost £5 and will be hitting the shops at Westfield Shopping Centre, Sheperds Bush on September 6, on the Models Own wesbite on September 10 and in Boots stores across the UK on October 3. The boxset of all five will cost £20.

Which of these takes your fancy? The names are Disco Inferno which is the gold polish, Hot Stuff is a mixture of pink and gold, Freak Out is the mix of blue and purple, Dancing Queen is the emerald green, blue and gold, Boogie Nights is the multicoloured mixture of purple, pink and blue.

At least these have more interesting names than their Beetlejuice Collection polishes. I love the look of Boogie Nights.

$250,000 Nail Polish.....

I was browsing the Daily Mail website when I read about a nail polish, not just any type of nail polish, but the world's most expensive nail polish. Being sold for a whopping $250,000, it contains 276 carats of black diamonds.

I read only one bottle of LA based luxury jeweler Azature has been created, although smaller bottles (0.5oz) are to be made and will contain a single black diamond. These will be sold in Fred Segal stores throughout LA.

All looks very nice, but I am sure China Glaze's Cosmic looks like a pretty good and more affordable dupe for the rest of us!

Jewel Britannia

Another new release by Barry M is Jewel Britannia, a gorgeous glitter.

I haven't seen this polish in shops yet, but judging by the pictures on Barry M's website and facebook page, it looks wonderful. As far as I am aware this will be £2.99 like their other regular nail paints.

What do you think?

Barry M - Denim

Barry M have brought out several new polishes recently, Denim is just one of them, with a medium blue with silver laced through I had to give this one a try.

This applied very well, smooth, one coat would prob have been fine, out of habit I applied two. It did dry to a matte finish with I wasn't so keen on, a coat of SV sorted that out though. I found the silver shimmer was more defined with a shiny top coat.

Have you tried any of Barry M's new polishes? What do you think of their polishes in general?

Rising Star (another OPI polish for under £4)

I haven't posted in the last week, I have missed blogging but work has been a bit hectic, infact, this is the first time I have even had time to paint my nails in a week.
I picked up this OPI polish - Rising Star from Sallys, it was in the clearance section for under £4.

This is a burnt orangey copper pot shade, I don't own many colours like this so thought it would make a nice change. Like I have said before about OPI colours, I do like this, but would not pay full price for it.

If you have a Sallys near you I encourage you to check out the sale/clearance section, sometimes there are gems to be found.

Ooooh look at that!

I hadn't painted my nails with these two polishes for a little while, I was looking through my collection to see what I fancied and these two jumped out at me. Barry M in Mint Green and Models Own in Pink Lady.

On their own I feel the green looks odd, I think because the pink is so shimmery and the green is a creme. I did end up putting a glitter top coat over this and that looked much better, however I forgot to take photos! Bad blogger.

I am loving Pink Lady, the shimmer is just stunning, the purple/blue ish tint is why I love it so much. I think this would be a great summer colour.

What are your fav summer polishes?

Winnings

I was thrilled to receive an e-mail from the lovely Marianne from Rainbowify Me telling me I had won first prize in her giveawy. I was really excited to see I had won some of Revlon's scented polishes, I had never tried scented polish so I am looking forward to trying these out. On to the pictures.

Here we have Revlon's scented (when dry) polishes in Mad About Mango, Passion Fruit, Beach and Ocean Breeze. The final polish is from a brand I haven't tried before Ruby Hammer Recommends.

Look at the pretty stickers and sweet note from Marianne.

Pretty polishes, I will do more posts on each colour soon, I wonder if they do smell like their names? Has anyone ever tried them out before?

I also wanted to take this chance to say a massive thankyou to Marianne for hosting the giveaway and for the lovely prizes.

Ibiza Mix - Glittery Goodness

I got my hands on Ibiza Mix from Models Own from Boots, I will let the pictures do the talking right now.

From the promo pictures I thought the base would be black but it isn't, it's a clear base with a ton of different sized multi coloured glitter particles. I decided to layer it over two Barry M polishes, Mint Green and Berry Ice Cream.

I adore this glitter polish, these pictures were taken with just one coat! I don't think any of my other glitter polishes have such good coverage in one coat.

Beth's Top Turquoise

Using two coats of Models Own in Top Turquoise on all my nails apart from the ring finger where I used Models Own Beth's Blue and stamping with Konad plate M63 I cam up with this manicure.

I love blue nail polish, it's the colour I seem to own the most of and Models Own does some fantastic blue polish, these are just two that they have to offer, there are many more.

I stamped using Konad special polish in black and applied one coat of SV.
