My prize from Dee from FaceFixers

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to have won Dee's giveaway over on her blog called FaceFixers. I was really excited as the prizes were lovely and I hadn't tried any of the products before. I got a lovely package through the post with a kind note from Dee, this is what I won.

A gorgeous creamy foot lotion which has a subtle scent of coconut, it applies really well and sinks into the skin quickly and is non greasy.

Next up is a fantastic thermal face wash from Biore,I love the brand, I love the moisturizer as it just soaks up any oils on the skin and keeps your skin matt. Unfortunately, I have not seen it sold in Superdrug or Boots recently which is odd as they both used to stock it, I will have to keep my eyes peeled for it again. This face wash is lovely and light and warms up as soon as you put it on your face. The warming sensation doesn't last long, but is really good when you first lather it on your face.

Next up are the Biore face masks which are thermal as well, I love face masks which heat up like this as it is just feels more relaxing and pampering, especially when you have a bath. I feel it also helps to remove more oil etc from your skin as the heat will help the pores to open up more. These particular face masks come in individual packets, the amount in each pack is plenty to cover your whole face.

Finally I got a couple of nose pore strips which I haven't used yet but have heard lots of people really like them, so I will have a go and report back soon.

Thankyou to Dee for such lovely prizes x

Pink and coffee coloured eyes

As you might have guessed from several of my eyeshadow posts I have done recently I love my blues and greens. I thought I should try and branch out a bit. So I chose bright pink and brown shimmer/ coffee coloured eye shadows.

I quite like this look, I think the pink makes my eyes look more blue, it is a nice change from my usual cooler toned blue and greens. I used Barry M Dazzle Dusts in a lovely pink called Candy on the inner corner and a coffee/brown colour called Old Gold which has a very faint shimmer to it which looks great when the light catches the particles. To finish I curled my lashes and applied a coat of Models Own Big Brush Mascara.

I love cake!

I have a bit of a weakness for cake, I love the stuff and enjoy eating it with lots of cups of tea! I enjoy pretty much any kind of cake, apart from banana cake. I was shopping in Sainsburys recently and came across a fab cake which I just had to buy!

Now I am not a gamer, I had a Nintendo Game Boy back in the day, but that was about it, I loved Pac Man and Space Invaders! My other half is a hard core gamer so this cake was really for him. We had a generous helping this afternoon with tea. What cakes do you enjoy?

Pelican Grey meets Nubar 2010

I went into my local Sally's the other day and discovered they have stocked the new Anchors Away collection by China Glaze. I had a look at the colours and wanted to try something different and bought the Pelican Gray polish. A lovely creamy gray which has a very faint shimmer to it, though this is not obvious at all. I chose this shade as I don't own anything else like it so was keen to try something new.

I really wanted something shimmery on top so I painted three coats of Nubar 2010 top coat over they Pelican Gray. I love the way this turned out, so delicate and fresh looking. Hope you like it.

Purple and Frosted Almond eyes

I had not used the new deep plum MUA purple eyeshadow since swatching it along with the other two colours I bought from Superdrug recently, so with this in mind here is the look I came up with it.

I used the shimmery plum eyeshadow from MUA (£1 from Superdrug) and this lasted all day and didn't collect in my crease (the same cannot be said for the green I used from MUA!) I am impressed with this particular shadow, I like this a lot more than the green. I applied this colour to the outer corner and blended along the crease. I used Frosted Almond from my Frontcover to go book of shadows on the inner corner and blended the two colours where they meet in the middle. To finish I used Models Own big brush mascara.

Last Friday Night meets Models Own Feeling Blue

So I first tried out the sparkly blue polish from the Katy Perry collection OPI Last Friday Night a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't so sure when I first tried it out as I felt it was just too sheer for me, it was lovely and glittery, but the blue tone just didn't show through enough for my liking. Anyways I thought I would experiment and try this polish over another blue shade, here I used Models Own Feeling Blue.

I love the way this looks, I definitely prefer LFN over another polish rather than on its own, going to try other shades for the underneath colour other than just blue to see how that turns out. Have you tried any of the Katy Perry polishes?

Blue and silver

I wanted to try another look with the Frontcover to go eye shadow book I was given by my mum last month. I wanted to use some cooler colours and chose my old faithful blue and a gorgeous shimmer silver. Here is the look I created.

The products I used were Azimuth which is a gorgeous blue from the Frontcover to go eye shadow book on the inner corner, then Silver Dollar on the outer corner, blending the two together. I finished the look by lining the top lash line with Black Spark (from the same book) then curling my lashes and applied Models Own Big Brush Mascara.

The Body Shop sale items and some new favourites

I am a bit late in posting about the items I bought from The Body Shop a few weeks ago, but here we go.

First up I bought a cranberry body shimmer from their Christmas range, this was in the sale and cost £3.50. I has a lovely light, sweet smell to it and a great shimmer. I think it must have moisturizing qualities as my skin felt really soft afterwards too.

Next up another sale item, a back of four shower/bath gels, I think if you bought each of these bottles separately it would cost £12, but this pack cost me £6. There is an assortment of gels in this pack, there were two mango bottles, an olive and a pink grapefruit. I haven't yet tried these out.

Next I have found a new face mosturiser that I love! I used to use Biore moisturiser as it left my skin matt and seemed to soak up any oils and left my skin grease free all day. I cannot find this mosturiser anywhere where I live anymore! None of the superdrugs, boots, or supermarkets are stocking it at the moment, but they are carrying other Biore products like their face packs and face washes, so I am not sure why they don't carry the moisturiser. I thought I can't just hang around waiting for a shop to start stocking it, so I figured I would try something new. This is where The Body Shop's seaweed mattifying day cream came in. I have only been using this for the last week but so far so good. It is very light and has a lovely non greasy formula and when absorbed by the skin leaves a fabulous matt finish. Great if you have oily skin. I think this cost me £10.

Next up is another sale item from the Christmas range, it is a lovely orange shower gel, this is just divine, such a zesty refreshing scent. I am currently using this gel at the moment, a little goes a long way and it lathers up so well, it also leaves my skin feel soft and smooth. I paid £3 for this product in the sale.

Finally a product that was introduced to me by my mum, their hemp hand cream for very dry skin. Now this is the only hand cream which works for me, I have tried so so many creams for dry hands in the past and The Body Shop hemp hand protector is the only one which soothes.  The only thing I am not so sure about is the smell, it does have a very muddy earthy smell and is a dark green colour but that doesn't bother me that much. This cost £10 and lasts for ages as you don't need to use loads. I use last thing at night as this is a heavy duty hand cream and by the morning my hands are so soft and the dry skin I sometimes suffer from is soothed away. They do have other products in the hemp range which I am yet to try out.

Have you used any of these products? If so, what do you think?

Holiday On Ice - Energia

Last night I went down to Westpoint in Exeter to review the new show by Holiday On Ice called Energia for my work. I love reviewing shows as I get press tickets and most of the time I take my mum with me. We always go for a meal before a performance so all in all it is a great evening out.

I had to leave work a little earlier in order to make my way down to Exeter from Barnstaple but needed to have a quick and easy make up look that would last all evening. I quite fancied some glitz and glam so glitter was a must.  This is what I came up with.

For the eyes I used three Barry M Dazzle Dusts, Lilac on the inner corner, Gold in the middle and Electric Blue on the outer corner. Then I applied a very generous amount of Heavy Metal glitter eye gel in Power Ballad by Urban Decay all over then finishing off with black mascara on the lashes. For the rest of my make up I just used Estee Lauder Lucidity foundation in No4 and a lip gloss from Smashbox called Peep Show. (Sorry about the light showing in the second photo!)

The Show itself was just amazing, those dancers were superb and they must spend so long perfecting those routines. I highly recommend going to watch a Holiday On Ice show if you ever get the chance.

Not a bad effort

So the other day I did a post on the new MUA eyeshadows I bought from Superdrug for £1. The swatches were lovely, such vibrant colours, but I hadn't actually tried them out on eyes. So with that in mind I wore the green eyeshadow to work to see how it lasted. This is what the eyeshadow looked like when it was first applied. (I also applied a purple eye liner from Gosh on the upper lash line and black mascara on the lashes)

The eyeshadow itself applied well and is well pigmented which I love! However, lets see how the £1 eyeshadow lasted. This picture was taken at the end of the day....

Hmmm, as you can see the shadow did not last all day (I did apply a primer under the shadow) which is a shame, but since I only paid £1 for the product I wasn't expecting the same lasting power as some of the more expensive brands. Overall I really like the shadow, towards the end of the day the product did gather in my crease but it I found it actually lasted well up until then.
What do you think? Have you ever tried MUA before?
