A May Time Wedding

Last Saturday was my other half's sisters wedding, the day was amazing, the weather was beautiful.

Just a few pictures of the day...

New Release from Barry M - colour changing polish - instant Nail Effect Chameleon

I am writing a quick post to tell you about a new nail polish being released by Barry M. I stumbled across the brief announcement on Twitter and just had to share with you all.

This is Barry M instant nail effect in Chameleon.

Chameleon is a colour changing polish, but unlike Claire's Mood polishes which change colour with temperature, Barry M Chameleon changes colour with a top coat.

According to their Twitter feed, any top coat will work, which is a bonus.

At this stage I am not sure how much each of the polishes will cost but they are said to be hitting shops next week.

What do you think of this new release? Excited?

Simply Done

Using another no named Colour Club polish and Barry M black crackle I came out with this simple manicure:

I have already mentioned in a previous post about my nameless Color Club polishes. I contacted CC about this as I bought a set from TK Max (UK) and they said this was normal for their polishes not to have a bottom name sticker.

I really like how this black crackle looks over this green polish, the green is so vibrant I think the black compliments it well.

Bright Eyes Burning Like Fire

I haven't done an eye make up post in a while so here we go! This is a look I have been wearing to work recently:

Using my usual base of Maxfactor Smokey Eye Effects (white end) all of the lid then using Models Own loose pigment in Bright Turquoise on the inner corner and Barry M loose pigment in Mushroom on the outer corner and blending in the middle.

Then using this mascara from Maybelline, Illegal Length

What Went Wrong - The Story of The Vanishing Konad

I was playing around with some Konad stamping, using two coats of Buffy The Violet Slayer  (wet n wild) and stamping with Konad special polish in white and using plate m57 with the zebra print I came out with this:

This is before top coat, see the white polish is all crisp and the pattern is nice and obvious. I applied a coat of SV and this happened:

See what I mean? What happened to my white Konad stamping? Don't get me wrong, I do quite like this muted design, but it isn't obvious I have a stamp on my nails. I have no idea why this has happened, I never have this problem with the black special polish and top coating with SV.

Has anyone else ever come across this problem?

Comfy Are We?

I caught one of my kittens, Leo in the box my new iron came in, couldn't not take a couple of pictures!

I haven't done a Moses and Leo kitten update in a while, so will be taking some pictures and doing a post soon. They are both doing well and love playing outside together.

Ooooh look at that!

I hadn't painted my nails with these two polishes for a little while, I was looking through my collection to see what I fancied and these two jumped out at me. Barry M in Mint Green and Models Own in Pink Lady.

On their own I feel the green looks odd, I think because the pink is so shimmery and the green is a creme. I did end up putting a glitter top coat over this and that looked much better, however I forgot to take photos! Bad blogger.

I am loving Pink Lady, the shimmer is just stunning, the purple/blue ish tint is why I love it so much. I think this would be a great summer colour.

Half n Half with blue and gold

I did another scotch tape half and half manicure recently, I tend to sway towards this diagonal scotch tape mani more often than Konad at the moment.

Here I used Models Own in 25 Carat Gold and Bell Bottom Blues from Myface Cosmetics followed by dotting with Andrea Fulerton's Dot and Flick tool.

Winnings

I was thrilled to receive an e-mail from the lovely Marianne from Rainbowify Me telling me I had won first prize in her giveawy. I was really excited to see I had won some of Revlon's scented polishes, I had never tried scented polish so I am looking forward to trying these out. On to the pictures.

Here we have Revlon's scented (when dry) polishes in Mad About Mango, Passion Fruit, Beach and Ocean Breeze. The final polish is from a brand I haven't tried before Ruby Hammer Recommends.

Look at the pretty stickers and sweet note from Marianne.

Pretty polishes, I will do more posts on each colour soon, I wonder if they do smell like their names? Has anyone ever tried them out before?

I also wanted to take this chance to say a massive thankyou to Marianne for hosting the giveaway and for the lovely prizes.

Yellow and Purple Crackle Crash

I bought a pack of Color Club polishes which I had found in a TK Max recently, although on closer inspection I found there are no names on the bottles. Has anyone come across this before with Color Club? I have a few other bottles which I was given in swaps with Noir Lacquer (posted from USA) and these always have names on stickers on the bottom.

I contacted Color Club about the nameless polishes, this is what they had to say:

"Yes - this is completely normal. The collections that TJ Max UK take in do not have bottom labels. If you attach a picture I can try to help you identify them! Hope this helps!"

I sent the team a private message via their facebook page and was surprised to see they had responded within an hour an half. I am always pleased they offered to help me identify the polishes. For me that is great customer service, going that extra step to help the customer.

Onto the manicure I have been wearing the last couple of days:

So this is two coats of a nameless yellow from Color Club followed by one coat of purple crackle by Saffron London and a top coat of SV.

Sainsburys sells flakie nail polish

While out shopping in Sainsburys recently I stumbled upon a nail polish brand called Eye Candy London. I don't think I have come across this line before but I saw they had a flakie polish so I snapped that up.

This particular polish cost £6, they did have some duochrome polishes too, I might pick those up another time, but they did remind me a lot of Models Own Beetlejuice polishes. I layered two coats of this flakie top coat over two coats of Models Own polish Peacock.

I do like the look of the flakie topcoat, however, I felt it took a bit of work to get it looking good. The clear base is quite thick and the flakies within it are sparse. The particles are thick and rough, not like Nubar 2010 or Gosh Rainbow, the two flakies I love to layer. Even SV top coat didn't feel like it smoothed the flakie top coat out.

Models Own Peacock before the top coat:

Dotty - "Amusingly Eccentric"

I dug out one of my dotting tools to create this manicure: Dotty "Amusingly Accentric."

This is two coats of China Glaze Cha Cha Cha then dotting with a medium dotting tool in Nina Ultra Pro in Punki Pink and Barry M in Black over the top.

Simple manicure but I think quite eye catching.

Shamballa

I was on Amazon and stumbled across this gorgeous bracelet: I believe it is called a Shamballa bracelet.

I paid just under £8 for this bracelet, although I have seen the same bracelets in jewellery shops for about £60! I love the way the different gems catch the light and for under £8 this was a bargain I couldn't pass up.

Alternating with crackle

I hope everyone is doing well? I haven't blogged in a few days, the longest since I first set up my blog a little over a year ago. Work has been hectic, I have been staying late, this coupled with a cold has meant I have felt a little run down. I am back now though and feeling better.

Here is a mani I wore recently.

Using Lemon Ice Cream from Barry M and essie's Geranium on alternating nails, and Barry M's black crackle as well as Rimmel's Matte finish top coat.
