Vintage Escape Fall Eye Shadow Palette - Cargo Cosmetics

Don't get me wrong. I love Urban Decay makeup, especially their Heavy Metal glitter eyeliners and Naked palettes. However, to change things up a bit let me introduce you to this little beauty.

This stunning eyeshadow palette is by Cargo Cosmetics and it's called the Vintage Escape Fall Eye Shadow Palette.

This palette contains 12 neutrals and a dual ended brush with a shader and slanted liner.
The colours are gorgeous and highly pigmented. On the top row, from left to right, we have Harvest Moon, Cuddle, Frolic, Cinnamon, Twigs, Black Crow.

On the bottom row we have Crisp, HotCocoa, Autumn, Withered Leaves, Rustic and Chestnut.
The colours apply evenly and smoothly across the lid with little fallout and the colours blended easily.
I got my palette at duty free but if you bought it from Debenhams it would cost £35.

What do you think of this palette?

Cheers to You Konad

It has been a long time since I did any form of nail art. Partly because I relapsed into my old nail biting habit. Now I have finally grown them back to an acceptable length. They aren't super long, but because my day job involves typing on a computer (I am a newspaper journalist by the way) they can't be too long.

Since having moved house in May my nail polish collection was unloved. I have now reorganised them, ideally I would like to buy some wall racks for them, but that isn't high on my house to do list right now.

For my nail art come back I used China Glaze's Cheers to You and stamped with Konad Special Polish in black. To finish I used Seche Vite fast dry top coat.

Cheers to You is from China Glaze's 2010 winter/Christmas collection which was called Tis the Season to be Naughty and Nice. This polish is a standard silver foil polish, pretty but not unique, there are a lot of other high street brands which carry a shade similar.

I find when stamping with Konad's black SP you need a light base for the print to show up. Seche Vite's fast dry top coat is also perfect for stamping because the polish doesn't smudge the design.

Making light of mental illness?

I have never written a post like this before. For me, blogging is my own little piece on the internet where I can write about all things pretty and girlie. It is a way for me to relax and have some me time.

However, sometimes among the posts of makeup, food and fashion, an article appears which makes me think twice. I hope this post will do the same for some of you.

I enjoy reading Sunday supplements, I have always liked the YOU magazine in the Mail on Sunday. However, one of their recent issues troubled me.

American star Demi Lovato spoke openly about her battle with depression and mental illness in one of YOU magazine's July issues. There was at least a four-page spread on the starlet documenting her troubles which started at a young age. Sometimes it is hard to believe Demi is still only 21.

Her father, Patrick Lovato, died of cancer last year. Patrick also struggled with mental health issues.

Then a few pages along in the magazine this style article was printed.

Now, don't get me wrong, I am not bashing the journalist, or her writing. I know the journalist wouldn't had created her column name or headline. That would have been down to the YOU subbing team.

With that in mind, I find the two articles sitting so close together makes me feel uncomfortable. Here we have a feature about how mental illness can destroy a person then flick forward a few pages and we have a feature called Confessions of a Style Schizophrenic. Seems a little thoughtless, no?

Sorry YOU magazine, this was an ill-thought out edition and I doubt I would be the only person this would have touched a nerve with.

Did you see this? Even if you didn't, what do you think? Harmless and shouldn't be taken too seriously, or was there a lack of judgement in this issue?
