Barry M - Denim

Barry M have brought out several new polishes recently, Denim is just one of them, with a medium blue with silver laced through I had to give this one a try.

This applied very well, smooth, one coat would prob have been fine, out of habit I applied two. It did dry to a matte finish with I wasn't so keen on, a coat of SV sorted that out though. I found the silver shimmer was more defined with a shiny top coat.

Have you tried any of Barry M's new polishes? What do you think of their polishes in general?

Accessorize do 'pocket bacs'

If there is one thing I love when shopping, it's a bargain: I picked up a few things recently, most of which were on offer or in a sale.

Ever since Nicole at Noir Lacquer sent me some pocket bacs from Bath and Body Works a while ago I am never without one. I was in Accessorize over the weekend and saw cupcake hand sanitisers, complete with the rubber holder to attach to your bag or keys.

It cost £3 and is the same size as the American B&BW pocket bacs. This was the only scent in the shop, I don't know if they have others. I don't think it smells of cupcake though, for me, it smells more like sun tan lotion, mixed with coconut, which I really like, it reminds me of being on a summer holiday.

Midtown Magic from China Glaze for under £4 from Sally's.

Cooling head stick containing menthol to help sooth and calm, in clearance from Boots for 99p. I will try using this before bed to unwind.

High Impact Lash mascara from Famous (by Sue Moxley) at Superdrug. I admit, the packaging, which isn't obvious from the picture, is what caught my attention. It is a silver holographic. I think full price is about £6 but I think I paid £2.99. I haven't tried it out yet but will do a review soon.

Denim is a new polish by Barry M, £2.99 I believe. It is light blue with lots of silver shimmer in it. I have read from other bloggers they can get away with one coat of this polish, so we shall see.

Blistex Relief Cream, ok, not very exciting, but I find this is the best lip care. I only use it at night before bed and it soothes dry lips. I like the tingly sensation but some people might find it a bit too harsh. I guess the same sort of feeling you might get from a lip plumper gloss, takes a bit of getting used to if you haven't used it before.

Rimmel pressed powder in translucent: I always use a translucent powder, for work I can get away with a bit of concealer and some powder (as long as my skin is behaving itself!)

Williams Arms - North Devon

Another post on a meal out, this time three of us visited a pub called the Williams Arms. Great food with chilled out atmosphere, they appear to have a cavery on offer constantly.

Here is a few shots of what we ate:

Strawberry cheesecake, death by chocolate fudge cake and a chicken dish (which doesn't look very nice, but it was lovely!) Simple pub food and friends, what more could you want.

Rising Star (another OPI polish for under £4)

I haven't posted in the last week, I have missed blogging but work has been a bit hectic, infact, this is the first time I have even had time to paint my nails in a week.
I picked up this OPI polish - Rising Star from Sallys, it was in the clearance section for under £4.

This is a burnt orangey copper pot shade, I don't own many colours like this so thought it would make a nice change. Like I have said before about OPI colours, I do like this, but would not pay full price for it.

If you have a Sallys near you I encourage you to check out the sale/clearance section, sometimes there are gems to be found.

Cat Cupcakes

This is just going to be a quick post to show some cat cupcakes.

The M and L are for Moses and Leo my two grey and white kittens.

The lady who made these are a friend of my mum, she made these for my birthday, the detail is just fantastic. She is making the cupcakes for my wedding next year. Jackie is so talented and as I have mentioned before she is not a professional.

Hello Gorgeous - A Lush Box

In a previous post I uploaded some pictures from my other half's sister's wedding. During the speeches at the breakfast the groom wanted to thank some guests. I was given this Lush Hello Gorgeous gift set.

In this box: Vanilla Dee-Lite Body Moisturiser, Comforter Bubble Bar, Think Pink Bath Ballistic, Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub and a trial size of Gorgeous facial moisturiser.

I wasn't expecting a thank you gift, so that was really nice, I never buy box sets from Lush for myself so it was a lovely treat.

Busted out the BBQ

It was my birthday a few days ago, I worked during the day but went to mum and dad's for a BBQ.

Chicken drumsticks, steaks, lots of salad bits, bangers, jackets and onion rings.... First BBQ of the year, hopefully this is the first of many.

Break Through with Hi-Res

Here is Milani 3D in Hi-Res, a gorgeous lilac holographic polish which I got from Nicole (Noir Lacquer) in one of the very first swaps we did early last year. The holograhic effect isn't as strong in this polish as it is in some others, such as Gosh Holographic, but it is still pretty.

I have found this polish to be quite sheer so I layered two coats of it over one coat of this essence colour & go polish called Break Through. A great summery manicure with added depth and sparkle.
