North Devon's Braunton Inn

Luke and I went off to the Braunton Inn for a bite to eat. The Braunton Inn used to be called Tarka Inn, I can't quite remember when they changed the name, but it must have been in the last few months. We had a lovely meal, here is what we ate.

Shared starter of chicken goujons with a side salad, flat bread and a tomato mayo.

We had the same main meal of hunters chicken, chicken breast with BBQ sauce, bacon and cheese. We also had a side of beer battered onion rings.

The location of the pub is lovely, right on the edge of the water, it is fab sitting in the garden during the summer.

The meal (including drinks, coke and an Appletizer) came to around £26, not bad. The service was fantastic, even though it was busy, our waiter was attentive and friendly.

    1. I think after Heanton it was called the Tarka Inn, I am not sure when they changed the name to the Braunton Inn, but it must only be within the last few months.

  3. Oooh, love the building! (Ok, yeah the food looks YUM too, lol) How old is the building and what did it used to be? Ha, I'm so obsessed with old England at the moment, I can't help it.

  4. Hehe, I looked it up and found:
"Originally called Heanton Court, The Braunton Inn was an ancient manor house for distinguished families descended from King Edward IV. During the 19th Century, the great house began to be let out to farmers, its castellated towers making it one of the grandest farmhouses in North Devon. In the 1930's, pleasure flights to Lundy Island would land in the grounds."

Love it! We don't have that kind of grand history here in the States. :(
