Macmillan Coffee Morning

Last weekend mum and I attended another Macmillan cancer fund raising event in a little town called Torrington which is about a 20 min drive from us. This was part of Macmillan's world's biggest coffee morning event. Various Macmillan branches and individual groups host a coffee morning around about the same date each year to raise funds for the charity. This coffee morning was good fun and the cakes on offer were all home made and looked fab.

This was a massive victoria sponge:

There were many, many more cakes on offer: This is what mum and I munched on with our coffee. Carrot cake and dark chocolate torte.

Mum made these rocky road squares for the event, one of my fav nibbles, she always used to make me batches when I was home from uni to take back with me. (I graduated three years ago incase you were wondering)

I got chatting to a lovely lady in her seventies who was telling me all about her children and grandchildren and how she doesn't get out much so it was nice to come up to an event and meet new people. She was so nice and it was great to meet new people from the community.

We are not sure how much money this coffee morning made yet, but the organizers are counting later so I will report back soon.
