I was curious.....

I gave in and bought a crackle polish, I got the Barry M one in black, I actually got this a while ago but never got round to using it. So I wanted to give it a try.

These are the polishes I used as a base:

Models Own - Feeling Blue
Models Own - Snow White
Models Own - Fuzzy Peach
China Glaze - Turned up Turquoise
Nabi - Bright Purple

This is how each looks with the Barry M crackle top coat:

China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise

Nabi Bright Purple

I am very on the fence with this particular crackle top coat.

I quite like the way it looks over Turned up Turquoise and Feeling Blue and no two nail effects are the same. You can get different crackle patterns depending on how thickly (or thinly) you paint the top coat on. On my left and right hand you can see how differently it turned out.

Thin coat
 Thick coat

I used China Glaze non chip top coat over the crackle, it dries to a matt finish and I much prefer a glossy finish. The consistency of the Barry M crackle is very thick and I had to work quickly otherwise it can dry before I had a chance to try and paint it evenly over my nail.

I like the novelty, but I won't be buying it in different colours or different brands.
Do you like the crackle trend or are you fed up of companies bringing out their versions? I for one would much prefer a holo trend.

  1. I have the Sally Hansen Crackle over coat in black. I love how it looks over neon colors. Your nails look great!

  2. I really like the Fuzzy Peach one !

  3. I like the crakle over the green colour the most.

  4. Fun skittles!

I too would love to see a holo trend.

  5. I just wanted to let you know I have nominated you for the Liebster Award! You can check it out on my blog. Have a great weekend!

  6. I like it over all of them I cant pick just one! I could say I like thinner coats though, great comparisons!
I gave you an award its on my blog!(:

  7. I can't get into crackle polish, but I must admit I do like it with that turquoise.

  8. I'm on the fence about crackle too, and have yet to buy any and I'm not sure if I ever will haha. I think I like the way it looks with the thin coat; the crackle pattern seems more defined.

Also, I'm passing along two blog awards to you! :D

  9. i think sometimes the crackle polishes can look pretty bad but these colours look really good with it, especially the turquoise :)
