What Went Wrong - The Story of The Vanishing Konad

I was playing around with some Konad stamping, using two coats of Buffy The Violet Slayer  (wet n wild) and stamping with Konad special polish in white and using plate m57 with the zebra print I came out with this:

This is before top coat, see the white polish is all crisp and the pattern is nice and obvious. I applied a coat of SV and this happened:

See what I mean? What happened to my white Konad stamping? Don't get me wrong, I do quite like this muted design, but it isn't obvious I have a stamp on my nails. I have no idea why this has happened, I never have this problem with the black special polish and top coating with SV.

Has anyone else ever come across this problem?

AHOY! SaGreena The Teenage Witch

Two coats of China Glaze AHOY! on my ring fingers and two coats of Wet n Wild's SaGreen The Teenage Witch followed by one coat of NYC glitter topcoat (Starry Silver Glitter) and finally one coat of Rimmel Matte Finish! Phewww, a bit of a list of polishes but I like how this manicure came out.

At first glance I think this is such a Christmassy manicure and not so spring appropriate but then again, this is exactly why I like it. I have never been one for wearing trends which are 'in' for certain seasons, I just reach for whatever polish I fancy at the time.

Aruba Blue with gold

One polish I haven't used from Nicole (Noir Lacquer) was essie Aruba Blue, so on went two coats followed by Barry M's Gold which I sponged on and finished with a coat of wet n wild Give Me a Price Quote.

I have always loved blue and gold together, esp a blue as bright and rich as this essie polish. The essie polish is stunning and I only needed to two coats. I will definitely be busting this polish out again in the near future. I think a white stamp over the top would look great too.

The wet n wild glitter polish is stunning and would look great over anything, in the light it glimmers so this is a great summer time top coat.

Playing around with Matte

Up until now I hadn't tried a matte top coat and was curious to give it a try, so I picked up Rimmel London Lycra Pro Matte Finish. I applied two coats of Rimmel London's Aqua Cool, a gorgeous lilac blue shade followed by a coat of Wet n Wild Party Of Five Glitters and I finished with the matte top coat. This is what I was left with.

I have found a new love, this Rimmel Aqua Cool, such a gorgeous blue...

FashionistA - Mystical Dragon

Whilst shopping in Exeter a couple of weeks back I popped into Superdrug and saw a new make up brand called FashionistA. They had such a large range of baked eye shadows and the nail polishes were stunning. I picked up this polish called Mystical Dragon.

This colour is stunning, in some lights it is a lovely emerald green, other lights it is more of a turquoise blue colour. It applied so smoothly and was good to go in two coats. I am sure there are flecks of gold lacing through this too, though this isn't so obvious on the nail. 

After a day or so I added a bit more bling! Wet n Wild Party of Five Glitters which I got in a swap with Nicole from Noir Lacquer a while ago. I have used this glitter top coat so much over 1/4 of the bottle is gone already!

FashionistA nail polishes cost £5 from Superdrug and I also spotted they have some magnetic polish in conjunction with the girl band The Saturdays. I didn't pick this up though as the polish itself was £6 and then you had to buy the magnet which was an additional £3. If anyone else has tried out the FashionistA brand let me know what you think.

Red block orange crackle

I wanted to use my new Barry M polish Block Orange in a manicure, it is very bright which I love. A bright creme which applied smoothly and was good to go in two coats. I alternated this with a red Wet'n'Wild polish and then put a single coat of Barry M crackle over the top.

I love the way these two colours compliment each other, bright and summery. I was in a bit of a rush and didn't have time to Konad so I grabbed a black crackle and popped this over the top.

Fuzzy Peach meets Beth's Blue

Beth's Blue is one of my fav Models Own nail polishes, it is not quite blue, not quite lilac, a bit of both. I teamed this with Models Own Fuzzy Peach, then using a dotting tool dotted a Wet n Wild red polish along the line where the two meet.

I used scotch tape to get a neat line, I am not sure if the Fuzzy Peach colour suites me, I sometimes feel that it gets lost on my skin tone but I quite like it teamed up with another colour.

Multidot

Hope everyone had a good weekend? I had a friend visiting me and and inbetween collection a massive triple wicked candle from a lady in another town, going to the DR and picking up my friend from the train station I needed a quick and easy manicure. 

I haven't worn anything on my nails all week, I have had an ear infection and have just felt pretty icky, been having early nights and work has been really hectic I just didn't have time to sort my nails out.

Something quick and easy, dots! Arg my top coat smeared the dots a bit, but it wasn't too noticeable in real life.

Base colour is two coats of Barry M Pure Turquoise and dots are Essence in Break Through, Barry M Spring Green and Wet n Wild Red Red/Rouge Rouge.

Red, blue and silver

Another polish Nicole from Noir Lacquer sent me for our last swap is Wet 'n' Wild Red Red/ Rouge Rouge. This is the first red nail polish I have owned. So I used it to create this manicure.

I applied two coats of the red polish, waited for it to dry then using scotch tape on a diagonal painted two coats of China Glaze Frostbite. Once that had dried I peeled the tape away and using a dotting tool dotted along the line where the red and blue met. I used China Glaze Cheers To You.

I applied China Glaze non chip top coat afterwards.
