Dotting Tool Manicure

I hope everyone had a good Christmas - what did you get up to? I haven't posted for about a month, I need to get back into a routine. Has this ever happened to you? I started a new job a few months back and working hours are much longer than before and I attend council meetings a couple of times a month which means I don't get home until late.

New Year resolution - get back into the swing of blogging because I enjoy it, it's my hobby.

A quick manicure I have been wearing over the last couple of days:

Two coats of Potion by 17 and using a medium and small sized dotting tools with Color Club neon polishes to dot diagonally across the nail. Simple, but bright and fun.

Dotting Away

I haven't been blogging much recently, I am trying to get settled into my new role at work (same company, new role!) I finally have a week off (first week off since before Christmas) so I will be catching up on blogging.

My nails have not been in the best condition lately, hence why they are so short, but I am trying to get back into a routine with them now and start looking after them properly again.

Here I used Punki Pink by Nina Ultra Pro, one of my fav neon pinks with Models Own in Lilac Dream and a medium sized dotting tool.

The sun has finally come out in Devon, so I shall be taking advantage on my week off and catching up on sunbathing on the beach.

I also hope to get back into a routine with blogging :-)

Dotty - "Amusingly Eccentric"

I dug out one of my dotting tools to create this manicure: Dotty "Amusingly Accentric."

This is two coats of China Glaze Cha Cha Cha then dotting with a medium dotting tool in Nina Ultra Pro in Punki Pink and Barry M in Black over the top.

Simple manicure but I think quite eye catching.

What is your fav simple manicure?

Spring Spots

Using a base of Blue Iguana from China Glaze (two coats) and dotting with Models Own Beth's Blue, Models Own in Fuzzy Peach and Jack Wills in Electric Pink.

I like the way the different colours look together, using a dotting tool is so quick and easy, it is one of fav go to nail art tools.

I finished with a top coat of SV which seems to be on its last legs, I am down to the last quarter of the bottle and it has gone so thick and gloopy, need to buy a new bottle soon.

Dotty Spots

I hadn't worn pink in a while and just fancied a bright, neon, eye squintingly bright pink, so out comes Punki Pink by Nina Ultra Pro, dots were made with a small dotting tool and Barry M black nail polish.

I have used this pink so many times, but I can never get it to photograph accurately. The polish is like high lighter pink! It is the brightest pink I own.

This is two coats, more pictures of the finished manicure.

Simple and quick manicure, I love creating a polka dot manicure, so fast and easy to do.

A Punki Pink Mysyical Dragon

I hadn't used any dotting tools in a while, but now my nails are starting to get a bit more length I whipped one out and did a quick and simple diagonal design.

I used two coats of Mystical Dragon by FashionistA, this is the only polish I have from this brand and I bought it from Superdrug months and months ago. I do love this polish, it applies so smoothly and dries fast.

Then using my trusty dotting tool I dotted in Punki Pink by Nina Ultra Pro, a wonderful neon pink. I got this from Sally's a while ago and it is one of the brightest pinks I own, it is stunning! Such a great summer shade.

A Snow White Blue Iguana in the Celtic Sun

Bringing out the good old dotting tool as I haven't used it in a while, this is what I came out with, a vibrant spotty manicure, a little different to the Christmas festive manicures around at the moment, but I just craved something bold.

Here I used two coats of China Glaze Blue Iguana which is a gorgeous vibrant shimmery blue with subtle purple laced throughout from their Island Escape collection which was released earlier this year. This is two coats on its own, the nail line is still visible but since I was adding dots I didn't apply a third.

Then using Snow White by Models Own I used a medium sized dotting tool to create the dots waited for these to dry, then I applied China Glaze Celtic Sun over the white. Either this makes the yellow even more vibrant, or this makes the dots look like mini fried eggs. Celtic Sun is an eye squintingly vibrant high lighter yellow, it is very sheer, so if I were to wear this on its own I would definitely need a white base.

I applied China Glaze fast forward top coat to finish. I like the way this one came out, like I said I just really wanted something a little different and something a bit brighter. I promise I will have festive manicures packed with glitter too!

Golden Plum with neon and white spots

Ok, forgive me for not having a very creative post title, but it is what it says! I wanted to try out one of my new polishes - Golden Plum polish by Sue Moxley, Famous and to jazz it up a bit I whipped out the old dotting tools.

Two coats of the Golden Plum shade, this is not a colour I would usually choose for myself, but I picked it up for my friend Nicole at Noir Lacquer in a swap and I liked the look of it so much that I went back and bought myself a bottle too. It is a great autumn colour, deep plum with threads of gold running lacing through it. The gold isn't as obvious on the nail as it is the bottle, but painted on, the polish does have a subtle beauty about it.

I then dotted Snow White by Models Own, waited for it to dry, then dotted Punki Pink by Nina Ultra Pro over the top just so the white is peaking through. Simple yet eye catching. I really like how this came out, the neon pink I think works well against the deep base. To finish I used Seche Vite quick dry top coat.

Half 'n' Half

I hadn't done a scotch tape mani in a while and my nails are starting to get a big of length back after a few breaks. Here I applied two coats of Electric Purple by Accessorize over all my nails and waited for it to dry. Then taping my nails of at a diagonal, I painted two coats of Models Own in Evergreen. I love this green, it is so vibrant!

Finally using a dotting tool I dotted Models Own in 25 carat gold where the two other colours met.

Shimmery, vibrant green, possibly my new fav green.....

A glittery holographic mess!

I was going through my nail polish collection and I thought I really need to try out some polishes I have had for a while but either never wear, or haven't even tried. This is is mind this is what I came up with:

Base is two coats of a Frontcover polish which I have never used, but it is gorgeous, a shimmery red-ish pink. In the pictures it does sway more towards red and it looks more metallic here too.

The polish itself applies smoothly and dries quickly, the pain with it though is the brush, it is so small! It makes it easier to control but at the same time it makes it harder to see what you are doing. The cap is all brush and no arm.

After waiting for this to dry I applied a quick layer of Gosh Holographic from about a 1/4 of the way down to the tip of the nail. Then I applied a layer of China Glaze Fairy Dust to the whole nail. Next I applied a few dots in China Glaze Jolly Holly using a dotting tool to the area where the red base meets the holographic overlay.

A little bit messy but actually I quite like the way this looks with the glitter and holographic together. I am not holding out much hope for this manicure lasting more than a day because of the Gosh Holographic, I know it will start to chip soon.
