The man with the golden gun on Her Majesty's secret service

I went to my local Sallys a few days back and saw they had their Christmas sales on. I wasn't that blown away by the few China Glaze 2012 Christmas collection polishes they had left so didn't pick any of those up.

However, I was thrilled to find OPI's James Bond polishes were reduced - my gobsmacking moment - when a £30 bottle of The Man With The Golden Gun was reduced to £13.

I layered this gold flakie over On Her Majesty's Secret Service:

The 18k real gold flakie top coat was a little bit of a pain to work with. The flakies are in a clear base which I found to be quite thick. The golden flecks are sparse as well which made it tricky to work with. I certainly would not have bought this for the full £30 price tag but for £13 in the sale it's ok to have for the collectors value.

Have you used this topcoat? If so what do you think - is it worth the hype?

"I'm not a handbag, I'm a glambag."

Mum booked me in for a Hopi ear candle treatment with a face, neck and shoulder massage yesterday.

After drinking a few glasses of water and waking up (I always feel a  bit drowsy after a massage) we went shopping. Lots of shops had summer sales on so I picked up a couple of bits.

One thing I love about the sales is finding something you were going to buy for full price. This happened to me in Next. I got this handbag.

This bag was originally price at £30 but in the sale it became £14, it was the only one left and since I was tempted to buy it for full price I snapped it up!

Next a couple of pieces from Accessorize:

A rose gold necklace reduced to about £2.40 and a long necklace with pink, yellow and gold beading, I can't remember the exact price but it was les than £4.

This wasn't really in the sale but it was part of a 3 for 2 offer: I haven't tried this mascara before but I like the look of the brush. Has anyone tried it? What do you think?

Rising Star (another OPI polish for under £4)

I haven't posted in the last week, I have missed blogging but work has been a bit hectic, infact, this is the first time I have even had time to paint my nails in a week.
I picked up this OPI polish - Rising Star from Sallys, it was in the clearance section for under £4.

This is a burnt orangey copper pot shade, I don't own many colours like this so thought it would make a nice change. Like I have said before about OPI colours, I do like this, but would not pay full price for it.

If you have a Sallys near you I encourage you to check out the sale/clearance section, sometimes there are gems to be found.

Bargain necklaces

This is going to be a short post but I just wanted to share these two bargains I bought from the Accessorize sale. These two items were 70% off.

This adorable necklace has lots of hearts with different patterns on them, the chain is quite short on this one. Price in the sale £3.

Next up is a bronze necklace with purple butterflies, leaves and random beads. This necklace is long and the detail goes all the way down which I love. This was also £3.

Ski Teal We Drop in a Snow Globe

I took another trip to Sally's recently and saw one lone bottle of OPI Ski Teal We Drop for £3.87, I layered China Glaze Snow Globe over it. Glittery goodness:

I quite like the teal OPI shade, but I wouldn't have paid full price for it, but for £3.87 I couldn't pass that bargain up.

CG Snow Globe is quite thick and gloopy and dries gritty, SV sorted that out though so I didn't worry too much. This glitter top coat will look wonderful over any dark base.

Frontcover Micro Rainbow Eyes Powder Collection

After Christmas all the gift sets Boots stock are slashed by half, which means there are lots of bargains to be had. I picked up the Frontcover Micro Rainbow Eyes Powder Collection for £6 which is great. I got some Frontcover pressed eyeshadows last year as well and love the colour payoff and quality. This is what this particular collection looks like.

This collection is handbag/on the go friendly, the pressed eye shadows (there are 9 colours) fit into a gold pouch.

There is their clear eye liner liquid pen which you use in any of these shadows to transform the shadows into liners.

I really like these colours: these are swatched over my usual Maxfactor white smokey eye effects base:

I am looking forward to playing around with this collection and for the price you can't really grumble. Have you picked up anything good from the January sales this year?

A bargain! - Jewellery sales

I hope everyone is having a good week? I am enjoying a few days off, although I had a water bill come through today for £270 for the quarter! I am currently conducting a leak test seeing as all our other bills up until now have been over £100 cheaper, so something isn't right!

The other day whilst shopping in town I picked up some great jewellery bargains, some bits for me, others I have stocked up on for Christmas presents for friends.

I don't own a long necklace! So I snapped this one up from BHS, £2 reduced from £10! I really like this one, it is quite simple with a few amber beads and silver rosettes dotted around.

Another great bargain from BHS was this stretch flower ring, again I don't own a cocktail statement ring, I usually wear delicate pieces but felt like something a little different. This one was £2 reduced from £10.

Then some dangly earrings from Accessorize, these were reduced to £1.30 (from I think £6, the shop assistant tore the original price sticker off) I got a few more pairs of these for Christmas presents for friends. I asked the shop assistant for some extra pink tissue to do my own wrapping.

Have you picked up any great jewellery bargains lately?
