Ski Teal We Drop in 2010

I used two coats of OPI's Ski Teal We Drop and one coat of Nubar's 2010 top coat which is a gorgeous flakie. I love this combination, the flakie stands out so well against the deep teal polish.

As you can see I have used lots of the Nubar top coat polish, I wear it so much and I find it jazzes up any dark polish. Of course you can wear it on top of any polish but I prefer wearing it over a dark base, the flakies pop more.

Matte Flakies

Again playing around with my new bottle of Rimmel Matte topcoat I had to try it over a flakie. I have seen so many wonderful pictures where other people have put a matte topcoat over their flakie polishes, it seems to give the whole manicure a different look. This is what mine look like:

I applied one coat of Golden Plum by Famous by Sue Moxley, one coater deep plum with golden strands running through it! yes please!

I then applied one coat of Nubar's 2010 topcoat, gorgeous flakie polish. It is so similar to Gosh Rainbow but with the Nubar polish the flakes are much smaller.

Then finally Rimmel Matte top coat over:

I am not so sure about this, on other people's pictures the matte flakies look amazing, on me I am just not sure how I feel about it. What do you think? I guess if anything having them matte does create another manicure. I definitely prefer having my flakie polishes layered over a deep base. 

Nails, face, body

Using Models Own Golden Green nail polish from their Beetlejuice collection and Nubar's 2010 top coat:

I love the way Golden Green looks on its own, but I wanted add one of my fav top coats over it just to jazz it up a little bit as I was going out for a dinner party.

Nubar Reclaim, a gorgeous green holographic

Over the last few days it has been super duper hot and sunny in Devon, this might be the summer I was waiting for. Shame I have been working all week. Anyways, I have no nail art for this post, just a straight forward polish, Nubar Reclaim, a green holographic. 

Get ready for a lot of pictures:

I love this polish, it applies so smoothly, I couldn't capture the true beauty of the polish, it looks much more holographic in real life. I have only just noticed on a couple of nails I have a little bit of tip wear, but it isn't too obvious in the flesh.

First time for foils (and a new Nubar polish)

I have never used nail foils before but have seen load of gorgeous manicures on various blogs and videos on utube which really made me want to try them out. I bought a bog standard nail glue from Amazon and two tubes of nail foils. One is called Silver Dots and is a silver pixilated foil and the other is called Wrapping Paper and consists of silver, yellow, red and purple foil stripes.

I haven't tried these out just yet, but am hoping to do a mani soon, my nails are still rather short at the moment. The foils cost £3.01 each from Amazon. 

Next up I bought a new polish from Nubar called Reclaim, a gorgeous green holographic polish. The polish is from their Going Green collection and costs about £8 from Amazon. I just love the look of this polish, the holo effects are amazing in the bottle and I really hope it is just as impressive on the nail.

Pelican Grey meets Nubar 2010

I went into my local Sally's the other day and discovered they have stocked the new Anchors Away collection by China Glaze. I had a look at the colours and wanted to try something different and bought the Pelican Gray polish. A lovely creamy gray which has a very faint shimmer to it, though this is not obvious at all. I chose this shade as I don't own anything else like it so was keen to try something new. 

I really wanted something shimmery on top so I painted three coats of Nubar 2010 top coat over they Pelican Gray. I love the way this turned out, so delicate and fresh looking. Hope you like it.

Nubar top coat 2010

I have a bit of a weekness for sparkly, glittery nail polishes and since I have let my nails grow to say I indulged in new polishes is a bit of an understatement.


I first heard about the brand Nubar via youtube nail tutorials and was on a mission to buy some bottles. I managed to track down the Nubar 2010 limited edition top coat on Amazon (for around about £8) and I love the stuff!

So pretty! It is a clear base packed with flecks of glitter, in normal light the the glittery bits just look clear with a hint of colour, but when the right lights catches it is just a rainbow of glittery goodness.


This top coat is great for layering and I discovered about 3 or 4 layers looks amazing, it just creates the most amazing effect. You can just use it on its own, but I think it looks best over the top of another colour. I set about trying different combinations to see how it would look.

I love this top coat! I love how it can totally transform any nail polish, in different lighting it just looks incredible. I prefer it over a darker polish, I don't like it as much over the pink neon, I don't think it shows off its sparkles as much. Have you come across Nubar before?
