While out shopping in Sainsburys recently I stumbled upon a nail polish brand called Eye Candy London. I don't think I have come across this line before but I saw they had a flakie polish so I snapped that up.
This particular polish cost £6, they did have some duochrome polishes too, I might pick those up another time, but they did remind me a lot of Models Own Beetlejuice polishes. I layered two coats of this flakie top coat over two coats of Models Own polish Peacock.
I do like the look of the flakie topcoat, however, I felt it took a bit of work to get it looking good. The clear base is quite thick and the flakies within it are sparse. The particles are thick and rough, not like Nubar 2010 or Gosh Rainbow, the two flakies I love to layer. Even SV top coat didn't feel like it smoothed the flakie top coat out.
Models Own Peacock before the top coat:
Oooh the base looks lush! :D
ReplyDeleteoo love it!! i dont tend to pay attention to the makeup aisle in sainsburys i may have to from now on :) xx
ReplyDeleteToo bad about the formula and the sparse flakies, but it looks really good on that Models Own - and on you of course! :D Xx
ReplyDeleteI got this flakie as well! But like you reviewed, the flakies are sparse, the base is too thick and the flakies are just hard to move around. For me, sadly it's a no no:( But the Models own Peacock did look lovely on you:)
ReplyDeletethis looks awesome with the flakies on top! have never tried one but this looks really great :) x
ReplyDeleteI really need to get to Sainsbury's to try this line
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't already, try the flakies from LOOK which is available in some Superdrugs, they're £5 and actually pretty good! xx
ReplyDeleteOhh I feel like I know Eye Candy from somewhere... I think its some eyelashes brand I see in TK Maxx.. But this polish looks nice but its unfortunate it doesn't sit well :/ But still good to know for others who may want to buy it.
ReplyDeleteCool blog btw :D
The flakies haven't hit my local store yet but at least I'll know not to get excited when they do. I've got the possible peridot dupe. There's also a possible graphite dupe in the range too.
